Meet Chris Kads
Experienced Writer & Editor
Chris Kads is a Barrett Honors student at Arizona State University majoring in literature with a certificate in writing. In and out of school she works on creating picture books, young adult short stories, poems, and novels. Her poem "Icks" has been published in the Pillow Talk Magazine, and several of her other works are upcoming with the SHINE magazine, the Blood+Honey Magazine, and the Canyon Voices Literary Magazine. Additionally, her poem "Missing the Tide" placed second in 63rd Glendon and Kathryn Swarthout Awards for undergraduate poetry.
When she is not focusing on creating works to submit to publishers and competitions, Chris enjoys self-publishing poems on her instagram, @chris_kads, writing songs on commission for music artists, and working as a technical writer for a water engineering company.
Chris strives to create stories that are character-driven, provide social commentary, and inspire people to work toward change in their communities. Books that have inspired her writing include Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree and Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games. She hopes to make her family, boyfriend, friends, and two dogs proud with her literary pieces.
