What We're Looking For:

As the title "An Apple a Day" suggests, our team is looking for pieces centered around the wonderful fruit that is the apple! While we have no particular thematic requirements besides having your piece(s) mention apple(s), our team is particularly fond of (and will be leaning towards selecting) works that contain social and political commentary, visceral language, and raw emotion.

You can submit in one or more of the following categories:

- Poetry (up to 5 poems, max two pages per poem)

- Fiction (up to 2 pieces, min 100 words each, max 1000 words each)

- Creative Nonfiction (up to 2 pieces, min 500 words each, max 1000 words each)

Guidelines for all categories:

- Any work submitted must be previously unpublished

- Absolutely no AI generated work

- Simultaneous submissions are fine, but please inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere (and then we can congratulate you!)

- Please attach your work as a .pdf, .doc, or .docx file

- Font of written submissions should be in Times New Roman and size 12 pt.

- Provide a short bio with your submission (100 words max) along with any social media handles or personal website addresses you'd like us to promote.

- You are allowed one submission in each genre category (one poetry, one creative nonfiction, and one fiction). However, you can not submit to the same genre category twice.

- If submitting in multiple categories, please send an email (or form if you are doing the expedited response time) for each individual category. Also, please send only one category at a time. For example, if you submit to poetry first, you must wait to get a response as to whether your submission has been accepted or rejected before you submit again in a different category (fiction or creative nonfiction).

- If doing the free submission email option, please make your email subject line: "Submission [GENRE] | Your Name (or pen name)"

- Our team will reject any subject matter we deem hateful, discriminatory, or excessively graphic.

- We ask for First North American Serial Rights. All rights revert back to the author after publication. If your work is reprinted elsewhere, we ask that the "An Apple a Day" anthology be acknowledged as the place of first publication.

- If you are unsure if your piece(s) is ready for publication in "An Apple a Day", you can purchase edits/feedback for it here before you submit.
