Kads Corner: A Literary Magazine

What is Kads Corner? 

Kads Corner is a literary magazine looking for poems, microfiction, fiction, and creative nonfiction pieces that pack a punch. While our magazine is unthemed, we particularly enjoy works with social and/or political commentary, vivid language, and raw emotion. We are also fond of pieces that explore the beauty in the mundane.

Is Kads Corner open for submissions? 

Yes! Kads Corner is open for submissions for our first issue. Submissions are open until October 18th at 11:59 PM MST. Works submitted after this point will be automatically rejected.

What are Kads Corner's submission requirements? 

Kads Corner takes submissions exclusively through our online forms featured below:

All submissions, regardless of genre, should be submitted as either a word document file or a PDF file. Font style and size should be Times New Roman, 12.

​

You are allowed to submit two times to each genre category. 

​​

Poetry: Up to 5 poems. Each poem should not exceed 400 words (max total words a poetry submission can be is 2000). ​

​​

Microfiction: Up to 5 microfiction pieces. Each microfiction should not exceed 400 words (max total words a microfiction submission can be is 2000).

Fiction: Up to 2 fiction pieces. Each fiction piece should not exceed 1000 words (max total words a fiction submission can be is 2000)

​​

Creative Nonfiction: Up to 2 creative nonfiction pieces. Each creative nonfiction piece should not exceed 1000 words (max total words a creative nonfiction submission can be is 2000).

With your submission, please include a bio that is max 150 words. Feel free to list any previous publications, awards, and/or relevant socials and websites.

Does Kads Corner accept previously published works?​​​

Kads Corner does not accept previously published works. We consider a work previously published if it has been:

​

- Featured in another literary magazine

- Featured in a book and/or anthology

- Featured on your social media and/or personal blog/website

Does Kads Corner accept simultaneous submissions?

Yes, Kads Corner accepts simultaneous submissions. However, please inform us immediately if your piece is accepted elsewhere (and then we can congratulate you)!

How long will it take to hear if my piece has been accepted? ​

For unpaid submissions, it will take max a month and a half to hear back if your submission has been accepted. If you have not heard back by this point, feel free to fill out the follow up form featured below. However, please do not fill out this form before a month and a half has passed.

For those that do not want to wait the full month and a half, there are also expedited response time options. To hear back in 48 hours if your submission has been accepted, it is $5. To hear back in 24 hours, it is $10. If for whatever reason you submit an expedited response form and do not hear back in the purchased time frame, please fill out the follow up form, and you will be refunded.

Are contributors allowed to submit their pieces to other places once the issue is live? 

Yes! Once our issue is live, you are allowed to share your piece on socials and submit it to other places. We ask, though, that you credit Kads Corner as the piece's first place of publication. 

 

Does Kads Corner provide feedback/editing services?​​​

Yes! If you are unsure if your piece is ready for publication, feel free to fill out a feedback form for $10 before you send in your submission. We will provide our feedback/edit suggestions, and you can then decide whether or not you want to implement that feedback before submitting your work(s).

If you submit a piece, and it is rejected, you are also more than welcome to fill out a feedback form and resubmit based on Kads Corner's suggestions.

Please note that filling out a feedback form does not automatically mean a new submission or a revised submission will be accepted into the magazine. However, it may increase your chances of earning a spot.

Will Kads Corner have launch party events? 

For each issue, we plan to have an online Zoom launch party in which the contributors will be able to read their pieces and share a bit about themselves. This event will be free for contributors and pay to attend for non-contributors.

Will Kads Corner nominate pieces for awards? 

Kads Corner plans to nominate pieces for the Best of the Net Awards.

What is Kads Corner's stance on AI generated works?

Kads Corner does not support publishing AI generated content. If we publish a work, and it is later revealed that AI was used either for idea generation or the writing of the piece, we will take it down from our website. ​

Will Kads Corner have a print version of the magazine? 

Kads Corner plans to select several of our favorite ​pieces to be featured in an annual print anthology. ​

Is Kads Corner excited to read your work?
